Car Scanner: what you get before you install

You are about to open the Google Play page for Car Scanner ELM OBD2, published by CAR SCANNER LLC. It has more than 10 million downloads. You will also need an ELM327-compatible OBD2 adapter (Bluetooth, Bluetooth LE or Wi-Fi) plugged into your car.

• Free: the app itself, with a wide range of diagnostic features at no cost, such as reading trouble codes with their descriptions.
• Paid: optional in-app purchases, listed at $1.49 to $3.99 per item, unlock extra features.
• Ads: yes, the app contains ads.
• Permissions: Bluetooth ("Nearby devices" on newer Android) to find your adapter; older Android versions may ask for location instead.

First minute: with the ignition on and the adapter plugged in, open the connection settings, choose your adapter type, select it and tap Connect.
